Transporting Dogs

Transports are critical to both pulling dogs from shelters and moving dogs from place to place within the organization (i.e. to/from vet appointments, to/from foster homes, etc.). Robin and Roxanne are the Transport Coordinators for NCBR and are responsible for training new Transport volunteers and for coordinating dog transports.

Before performing your first NCBR transport, you should receive a personal introduction from Robin or Roxanne on the policies and procedures of transports. You should also take the time to review the NCBR Transport Guidelines document, which is full of helpful information, as well as procedures to be followed during transports. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Robin or Roxanne before proceeding with any transport.

Communications

Getting the message of a transport request out quickly is key to timely transports, which can be needed on a moment’s notice. To help us reach our Transport volunteers we employ both a text message and email notification system. As part of the Transport team, you will be invited to join our Google Group for emails. Rest assured that your information will not be distributed in any way by joining this group.

If a transport request goes out that you can complete yourself or if you can help with part of it, respond directly to the sender’s email request so that she/he can finalize the transport and/or coordinate other legs of the request with other parties.
